A few years ago, we sought to escape our daily grind in Los Angeles and found tranquility and beauty in Paso Robles wine country. Our estate, the Sunada Smoot Vineyard, is one of the oldest in the area and has been supplying Paso Robles' most prestigious wineries with cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc and other varietals for many decades. 

Chateau Robles Winery was born from a dream to share our passion and commitment to creating exceptional wine to be savored and shared with the important people in our lives.

Passion alone, however, does not make exceptional wines. There are several essential ingredients. First, great wine requires exceptional fruit. All of our grapes are from single vineyards in Paso Robles, which benefits from the largest average difference between daytime and nighttime temperature of any wine region in California. Because of this, the area enjoys a long growing season, allowing the grapes to develop complexity and character. The soils in the area also contain a high limestone content causing the grapes to have a pleasing bright acidity.

Second, great wine requires exceptional winemaking. Our winemaking team has won many industry accolades and awards. Our cabernet sauvignon is first destemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats. Then, the wine is transferred to 100% French oak barrels and allowed to mature for 18 months before bottling. Our small production sauvignon blanc is pressed whole cluster into stainless steel tanks and aged in stainless steel for 7 months to preserve the wine’s freshness and food-friendly crisp acidity.

Third is our unwavering commitment to sustainability and social equity. Our estate vineyard has been certified sustainable after a painstaking third party audit process. This recognition reflects our responsible water management practices, protection of the natural habitat, use of clean energy and carbon sequestration practices. With the addition of an electric tractor in 2023 (one of the first in use in Paso Robles), our vineyard will be carbon neutral. All farm labor is supplied by licensed and insured third party labor contractors who strictly adhere to all applicable wage and safety rules. In doing so, we believe that, in addition to earning a fair wage, workers should be given a means to support their families and build a pathway to a better life.

The final ingredient is the alchemy supplied by you. Share a bottle of Chateau Robles with people you care about. Serve great food. Tell stories around a fire. Reminisce. Listen to jazz, classic rock or hip hop. Look up at a star filled summer sky. Then tell more stories.
